Dr.
Curtis Sealy was born in Scarborough Tobago and attended
St Mary’s College, leaving in 1979 with an Additional
National Scholarship. He accepted a University scholarship
to study Medicine at the University of the West Indies
in 1979. He transferred to dental School in 1980 receiving
his dental training at the University of Bristol in England
and graduated in 1984.
After
dental school, he returned to Trinidad & Tobago and
worked with the Government Dental Services for 5 years.
During his time, he gained valuable experience in the
field and underwent extensive continuing education. He
joined also his first group practise in 1985 in Chaguanas
and left to establish his own office in 1987, which afforded
him the opportunity to practise his own style of dentistry
for which he earned the nickname “Teddy bear”.
In
1992 Dr Sealy was invited to be one of the six commissioning
Dentist for the Dental Hospital of Trinidad and Tobago.
Later in 1993 Dr Sealy was one of the pioneer Clinical
Demonstrators/Tutors for the first year of the new University
of the West Indies Dental School. Dr Sealy emphasis on
Continuing education (with a recent emphasis on aesthetic
dentistry) remains an important part of his professional
life. He is a member of the Dental Association of Trinidad
and Tobago and affiliated with the American Dental Association.
